Clearing Karma Confusion

There are many misconceptions swirling around karma. Anyone who participates in social media has surely seen snarky memes about “waiting for karma to catch up” with their enemies. And perhaps you’ve even come across articles about how to keep yourself on the right side of karma or you’ll somehow be punished. Honestly, this karma is sounding downright scary. Don’t piss it off or you might lose all of your earthly belongings and come back in your next lifetime as your worst nightmare.

Enough. Let’s begin to understand what karma really is. The following is an abridged version.

Karma is not Universal vengeance. The whole notion of karma being some sort of celestial score keeper that’s out to get you is just the human ego turning a spiritual law into something damning or punishing. Karma, in the most general terms, is lessons accrued over this and previous lifetimes that your soul agrees needs to be learned in order to evolve. It’s the Universe keeping balance. The Universe doesn’t judge you or your actions as good or bad. Anyone who gloats over someone “getting bit in the ass by karma” doesn’t really understand karma.

Karma is a bank of lessons accrued over lifetimes. It’s a snapshot of where your soul currently is on its journey of evolution. Your soul needs to learn certain lessons in order to evolve. However, there are some lessons that are clearly more difficult to overcome, and they often manifest as patterns that must be dealt with and released. These lessons are challenging, and often the human doesn’t feel comfortable tackling the issues head on because it feels unnatural. But the only way to freedom is to consciously make an effort to resolve the karma. The good news is the Universe will help you every step of the way. Not all karma is difficult, however. You can look at your gifts and blessings as karma you successfully balanced either in the past or current lifetimes.

The Law of Karma is often confused with the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction is when your actions, thoughts and feelings attract the same into your life. What you think, and more importantly, how you feel, manifests as your reality. If you don’t like your reality, look no further than your own thoughts and feelings as the creator of that reality. The good news is you can change your circumstances by changing your thoughts and feelings. The Law of Attraction is a fail-proof law, and once you learn how to work with it, you can literally manifest the life you want into reality.

Like karma, the Law of Attraction does not judge anything as good or bad, it is merely matching a vibration, sending “like” to match “like”. Sadly people rarely look at a happy, centered person who is at peace and say, “They must have attracted that state of joy with their vibration.” However, those are the people who should be studied. They’re the ones who get it. By emitting the frequency of joy, they receive joy. That’s the Law of Attraction.

The happy person also has karma to work out. However, it’s much easier to learn from your karma and balance your lessons with a smile on your face.

Regardless, an important commonality shared by karma and the Law of Attraction is neither is vengeful, neither is out to get you. However, people, on the other hand, can be vengeful. That’s the ego at its worst. And when you lower your vibration and state, “I can’t wait to see karma catch up with them!” you are sending a signal to the Universe, with your emotionally charged frequency, to bring you the same.

Allow other souls to be where they are in their evolution, and focus on your own lessons and vibration, instead.
